About Us
The Texas Partnership for Out of School Time (TXPOST) is a statewide intermediary whose mission is to convene, educate, and advocate to improve the quality and increase the availability of out of school time (OST) opportunities for Texas youth. We are committed to fostering and facilitating strategic collaboration and public investment to:
- Grow our network to better support OST programs, including helping to build their capacity, improve youth outcomes, and broaden our coalition;
- Drive continuous quality improvement in OST programs across the state; and
- Promote sustainable access to high-quality OST programs for all Texas children.
What is OST?
Out of school time (OST) includes before school, afterschool, summer, enrichment, and expanded learning programs. These programs offer a wide range of applied learning activities from STEM to team sports to the arts, and much more!
TXPOST works in partnership with vital leaders at local and regional levels who invest deeply in their own communities to offer professional development opportunities, engage in system building work, advocate for the OST field, and support local programs.
TXPOST was founded in 2011 and is the 40th statewide network funded by the C.S. Mott Foundation to pursue the development of statewide OST systems that will serve youth, families, and communities across the state.
TXPOST is also the Texas Affiliate of the National AfterSchool Association (NAA). NAA and its State Affiliates share a mutual purpose and agreement to support, develop, and advocate for out of school time professionals and the profession. NAA and its State Affiliates build connectivity among stakeholders and create opportunities for engagement to ensure a vibrant future for the OST profession.
