Co-founder, Dallas Afterschool
Janet Mockovciak co-founded Dallas Afterschool in 2007 and is Board Emeritus with Dallas Afterschool and chairs their Quality Committee. Janet was a partner with Dallas Social Venture Partners from 2004 – 2010, Janet served as a Lead Partner and on grant committees to evaluate local non-profits. An active member of the Executive Board of SMU in Taos, Janet serves on several committees for the Taos campus.
A lifelong volunteer, Janet’s work has centered around children, education, and healthcare, including ten years at Scottish Rite Hospital, eight years at North Hills Prep where she co-founded the Volunteer Partnership model now used in all Uplift charter schools, successfully wrote grants, and held a myriad of other volunteer jobs. Other past volunteer positions include Baylor Irving Healthcare Foundation Guild, Children’s Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary, Save Our School Co-Chairman, New Tomorrows Women Shelter, CFBISD Bond Committee, Clean Dallas East, and Vickery Place Neighborhood Association serving as an activist against double decking Central Expressway and other East Dallas zoning issues. Before devoting herself full time to the community, Janet spent twenty years in consumer banking in middle to upper level management positions with Dallas area savings and loans, banks, and mortgage companies. She was responsible for developing and implementing Service Quality culture changing initiatives.
Janet is the chair of TXPOST’s Governance & Internal Operations Committee.
